Short Group URL Extension for Groups / Communities Plugin enables URLs of Groups on your website to be made short and more human readable. Such URLs are easier for visitors to identify, remember and share. Short URLs make it easier for Group owners to direct others to their Group on your site. With this extension, Group URLs like: http://yoursite.com/group/groupname can be changed to: http://yoursite.com/groupname. Site Admin can also ban offensive URLs.

With this extension, Group URLs like: http://yoursite.com/group/groupname can be changed to: http://yoursite.com/groupname.
You may want to use this extension if Groups are an important component of your website.
Note: This extension will not work if you have installed any other short URL generator on your SocialEngine website.
- Just like without this extension, Group owners can choose the URL-component / username for their Group.
- Admin can choose if Group owners should be able to edit their custom Group URLs.
- Admin can enable / disable automatic shortening of Group URLs from the form: http://yoursite.com/group/groupname to: http://yoursite.com/groupname .
- If enabled, short URLs for Groups are activated everywhere, and old Group URLs will re-direct to the new short URLs.
- Admin can choose the Likes limit, upon exceeding which short URLs will become active for respective Groups.
- Admin can ban certain URL components. This can be used to dis-allow URLs that contain offensive or generic words.
- Installing this extension also activates short URLs for already existing Groups.
The following are the requirements for this plugin:
- This plugin is an extension of the Groups / Communities Plugin and thus that plugin must be installed.
